Little Pick Me Ups

What helps to get you through the day?

This morning I look out the kitchen window and see a gentle flurry. I have a toasty-warm waffle for breakfast drenched in sweet syrupy goodness. I remember how I love not having to go to school today.

Once I let Moki outside in the back I stare into the distance, watching the clusters of snowflakes coming down gracefully. Seriously, these are some big snowflakes, and it's like they're coming down to attack me on all sides.

I let Moki back inside where it's warm again, where I can stare out the window on end at the flakes continually falling down until it's time to go to my Math midterm.

The beauty of the flurries, the toasty waffle (XD), and the pleasure I can find in my circumstances at the moment are what make my day; they make it. What will make your day, today?

Some Quick Fun Facts About Nerdette Blinda

  • She calls almost EVERYTHING "sexy." She's very keen to give out her "sexy"s, so that gradually the word "sexy" becomes synonymous with "mildly good-looking," when you're dealing with her. Jeez.
  • She is an overachiever. That's the type of nerd I find her to be. She sets high goals and does a lot of achieving, but isn't always willing to do what it takes to reach some of her goals and gets lazy. Plus, she walks really slow all the time. :P
  • She aspires to be a tattoo artist! How cool is that?! (I just personally hope she really knows what she wants and that she won't get too lazy to do what it takes to get there, leading to a future with no way to support what she would really like to do with her life)
  • She doesn't like getting chewed out, and while I respect this I would like to apply some tough love to her situation. She is completely free to write a similar post, using ME as the test subject. She'll have lots of fun!!! :D

WOOHOO, MIDTERMS!!!!!!!!!!!

I...

have a French midterm tomorrow. T_T (crying face)

I...

felt like blogging after I read this brilliant post on Jason Mraz's blog, so now here I am; I tell myself I'm looking up music, when all I'm REALLY doing is wasting time on the computer before I have to take that midterm tomorrow. Ugh. Hey guys, did you know that Jason Mraz has a Youtube Channel with insane vids that are hilarious in the randomly-making-no-sense way??? CLICK HERE! Anyway, I just found some of his new songs, (see Ousmane [he's always happy to see you! :D]) and the acoustic ones are really nice. LOL, the title of his blog is really funny because I'm pretty sure he thinks he's gangsta (see the aforementioned link to blog; see also his very "gangsta" song Geek in the Pink, Ousmane's 4th song).

SEE, this is what I do to procrastinate!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, sorry, I shouldn't impose my very human flaws on you now. It's just that I need to explain to myself that when I often go on the computer and 'look up music' or 'look up Pixar movies' (both of which I classify as research), I get stuck surfing the internet for over an hour!!!!!!!!! Then I can't do whatever the heck I'm actually supposed to be doing!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGCCCCCCK

So yeah, at least I got a lot of research about Jason Mraz and James Cameron and the movie "Alien" done because of my procrastination. And I got some great new songs for my iPod! *Thumbs up!* (Yeah, that's my denial acting up) Hey, I also watched "Spirited Away" today. Miyazaki is a creative GENIUS.

So feel free to let me know if you took any of my suggestions from this post (the music/Youtube/movies suggestions, not the procrastination stuff) and/or just leave a comment describing how your day went. Or you can pretend that this webspace is actually your blog, and that you're free to vent as long and as heated as you want to make it. Because mi blogspace es su blogspace, and everyone is free to vent as they please. OMG, I've picked up the cello again and I've vowed to practice almost everyday so I can perfect my piece for All-state which is in the first week of April and I haven't done NYSSMA for 2 years, but this time it's more intense + competitive and I need an accompaniment which could actually sound pretty cool, but I'm just sayin that this is my major dedication for now and I hope I stick strong with it until April and keep improving my work on the music; wish me luck and I wish the greatest fortune to smile upon you and your endeavors--peace out, homeskillets

Musical Revelation ^_^

Here I am--updating our sick music player, now referred to as "Ousmane--the amazing, head-bobbing, music/video-playing square," when I decide to internet search the name of the band that wrote "Chelsea Dagger," the epitome of musical satisfaction (see Ousmane's third song). Well, I check The Fratellis up on iTunes and their first album brings tears to my eyes.

Okay, melodrama aside, "Costello Music" shows off the friggin' brilliance of this Scottish hard-@$$-alternative-rock band. Their music is pure, supremely-catchy gold; it speaks for itself. You can tell this is one talented trio with genuine attitude. I don't care if I've never before heard a Scottish band in my life; these guys are the definition of rockstars. And if I'm not mistaken, it sound like there are some references to The Beatles in their songs, like if you listen to this one here:

In this one, they say "all right" a lot, just like John Lennon did in "Revolution," and they did say "military man." Oh yeah, and they have this crazy break towards the middle that's just instruments and mindless screaming that sort of makes no sense (JUST LIKE The Beatles sometimes have!!! :o Kewl). And I swear that in "Come Together" The Beatles are talking about a hippie, but maybe that's just me. ;) This one's pretty good:

Verdict: "Costello Music" blows my mind. I will keep this album on repeat as the soundtrack of my life. Well, I hope you enjoyed Nerdette Ari's musical revelation!!! Till next time, nerdette-ified world savers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

~Nerdette Ari (thinks more people should become nerdette-ified world savers. Then we could band together and actually change the future course of the world!!! :D)

"We need a little Christmas NOW..."

Guess what; IT'S SNOWING over here right now, and when I say "SNOWING," I mean crazy flurries all over the place. There's a blanket of white covering everything, 'cuz today was the first snow of the season. EXCITING.

(P.S. That wasn't sarcasm. I'm really not one known for my sarcasm; you can ask Blinda 'bout that. XD) I finished the movie "Julie & Julia" today (it took me the whole week to watch this movie 'cuz I was busy goofing off), and if you've ever seen it you'd know that it's an inspiration to nerdy bloggers everywhere!!! Well maybe not nerdy bloggers everywhere, maybe bloggers and aspiring chef masters in general, but I'm leaning toward bloggers of the nerdy variety 'cuz that would be Blinda and me (Btw, I checked to make sure that was proper grammar. Point reinforced). The movie is based on the true story of a lady named Julie who devoted 365 days of her married life to cooking up 524 of Julia Child's recipes. She writes about her attempt at completing all the recipes found in Julia Child's cookbook in a blog that she updates daily. It's a total inspiration to us bloggers, because it shows us that a small-town girl, a big-city boy, or the World's Tallest Midget can write a blog that makes such a big ruckus, it gets into the movies. We know that we have a chance of making it possible and making it big!!!!!! This may not--actually, it won't--happen for everyone, because if everyone is famous, no one is. But heck, we now know that it's possible; we know that people will buy it. And this sorta makes me want to send my message out into the world. How about you?

Merry Chrisma-Hanu-Kwanzaa-don and a Happy (*insert name of holiday you celebrate [or have considered celebrating] here*)!!!!!!!!!!

Us nerds concur...

READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/29/magazine/29wwln-idealab-t.html

Here's my fave nerdy quote:
"Nerds are not simply victims of the prevailing social codes about what’s appropriate and what’s cool; they actively shape their own identities and put those codes in question."
Yeah, I really gotta go procrastinate on my English assignment some more, but I urge you to read the above article! It'll fill you with nerd-like wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's that time of year again; embrace the nerd spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Hey, that gets me thinking: Don't you think nerds should have their own holiday? OMFG, let's invent one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD)

"Every missing piece of me, I can find in the melody..."

SICKNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not like H1N1, I mean sickness as in the following:

THAT, is my GaiaOnline avatar. XD XD XD Notice how effing Japanese chic I am, me and my onigiri. Of course, it's merely a virtual representation of my persona; it's not REALLY me. Oh, and just to clarify--this is Nerdette Ari posting; it's not like Blinda would invent something this insane. I mean, Blinda can be obsessive, but not in the website-fetish way. XP (Except for maybe Tetris.com [Blinda's Halloween costume idea '09 ftw!!!!!!!!!]) So yeah, life's been treating me pretty well so far--

HOLY SCHIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, O.M.effingG., you know, I really could tell you I've got some freakin' amazing news, but the truth is: I don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Except for the fact that I'd really like to go to a concert (preferably Paramore[!!!]) sometime soon... because I've been severely concert deprived in the past. Meaning that I've never been to a concert in my life. I've tried 3 times to go to 3 different concerts, but it just didn't work out. T_T ............................................... FRUITYBUNNIES*

Last thing: there's this one video that will probably crack you up or result in the wetting of pants, but it is mildly racist. It's the crazy accent this guy does that might be considered mildly offensive, but chances are you won't even notice because the whole thing is so funny. *CAUTION: contains profanity* Judge at your own judgement ;)
