"We need a little Christmas NOW..."

Guess what; IT'S SNOWING over here right now, and when I say "SNOWING," I mean crazy flurries all over the place. There's a blanket of white covering everything, 'cuz today was the first snow of the season. EXCITING.

(P.S. That wasn't sarcasm. I'm really not one known for my sarcasm; you can ask Blinda 'bout that. XD) I finished the movie "Julie & Julia" today (it took me the whole week to watch this movie 'cuz I was busy goofing off), and if you've ever seen it you'd know that it's an inspiration to nerdy bloggers everywhere!!! Well maybe not nerdy bloggers everywhere, maybe bloggers and aspiring chef masters in general, but I'm leaning toward bloggers of the nerdy variety 'cuz that would be Blinda and me (Btw, I checked to make sure that was proper grammar. Point reinforced). The movie is based on the true story of a lady named Julie who devoted 365 days of her married life to cooking up 524 of Julia Child's recipes. She writes about her attempt at completing all the recipes found in Julia Child's cookbook in a blog that she updates daily. It's a total inspiration to us bloggers, because it shows us that a small-town girl, a big-city boy, or the World's Tallest Midget can write a blog that makes such a big ruckus, it gets into the movies. We know that we have a chance of making it possible and making it big!!!!!! This may not--actually, it won't--happen for everyone, because if everyone is famous, no one is. But heck, we now know that it's possible; we know that people will buy it. And this sorta makes me want to send my message out into the world. How about you?

Merry Chrisma-Hanu-Kwanzaa-don and a Happy (*insert name of holiday you celebrate [or have considered celebrating] here*)!!!!!!!!!!

Us nerds concur...

READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/29/magazine/29wwln-idealab-t.html

Here's my fave nerdy quote:
"Nerds are not simply victims of the prevailing social codes about what’s appropriate and what’s cool; they actively shape their own identities and put those codes in question."
Yeah, I really gotta go procrastinate on my English assignment some more, but I urge you to read the above article! It'll fill you with nerd-like wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's that time of year again; embrace the nerd spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Hey, that gets me thinking: Don't you think nerds should have their own holiday? OMFG, let's invent one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD)

"Every missing piece of me, I can find in the melody..."

SICKNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not like H1N1, I mean sickness as in the following:

THAT, is my GaiaOnline avatar. XD XD XD Notice how effing Japanese chic I am, me and my onigiri. Of course, it's merely a virtual representation of my persona; it's not REALLY me. Oh, and just to clarify--this is Nerdette Ari posting; it's not like Blinda would invent something this insane. I mean, Blinda can be obsessive, but not in the website-fetish way. XP (Except for maybe Tetris.com [Blinda's Halloween costume idea '09 ftw!!!!!!!!!]) So yeah, life's been treating me pretty well so far--

HOLY SCHIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, O.M.effingG., you know, I really could tell you I've got some freakin' amazing news, but the truth is: I don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Except for the fact that I'd really like to go to a concert (preferably Paramore[!!!]) sometime soon... because I've been severely concert deprived in the past. Meaning that I've never been to a concert in my life. I've tried 3 times to go to 3 different concerts, but it just didn't work out. T_T ............................................... FRUITYBUNNIES*

Last thing: there's this one video that will probably crack you up or result in the wetting of pants, but it is mildly racist. It's the crazy accent this guy does that might be considered mildly offensive, but chances are you won't even notice because the whole thing is so funny. *CAUTION: contains profanity* Judge at your own judgement ;)

Click for crazy Youtube vid in a new window

Seriously, you never know what you're getting when Ze Awesome Nerdettes recommend crazy Youtube vids--it's like a raffle!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Actually, I should be thanking Vicky right now for showing us the vid to begin with and for cracking me up by perfecting the voice!!!!!!!!! In fact, have a couple more crazy Nerdettes Youtube vids (random pick!)

Tennis is OVER!!!! :(

So...

It was our last game today :( I'll miss all the seniors, because at least we'll see everyone else in school and next year. But after this season, the seniors will me GONE!! And they were pretty chill people...

Tennis was awesome. I really liked MO. That's what everyone calls her. MO. Except me. I didn't catch on until tennis was almost over. Which made me feel slow. But it's all good. Mo even let me make a design for her new tattoo! Which I thought was prety fantastical of her...

So I'll miss tennis, but now I'll have to focus my energy on other afterschool things, like helping the jr. art people finish their mural. And I won't have to stay up until midnight doing my homework because practice took up most of my time...

So I'll smell you later

And are you happy I'm posting now?!

~Bwinda!!!!!!

Bwinda's New Playlist!!!!! ( 10/ 19/09 ) It's been a while...

1. Stop the Clocks - Oasis
2. Don't Do Me Like That - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
3. Losing My Religion - R.E.M
4. Life's Been Good- Joe Walsh
5. Paradise City- Guns N' Roses
6. Doin' Time - Sublime
7. The Way- Fastball

16. Devil Woman - Cliff Richard
17. A Well Respected Man - The Kinks

So that was my long(er) playlist because I haven't posted in a VERY lond time. And I feel guilty because everyone keeps on bugging me to post but I never remember, BUT I remembered today!! I think I'm gonna jump back on the blogging bandwagon...

Gotta Love the Internet!

Here's why:

Stuff like this amazing project brings the world closer together.

The lady with the yellow umbrella is a writer named Amy Krouse Rosenthal and the fact that she did what she did in the video above proves that we can just up and create something with dozens of people. Loved that video. I love this one too; the music in both of them is great!!!:

Lovely is beckoning the people of the world to create something together. And "lovely" isn't the only thing beckoning; how about poverty, compassion, world hunger, equality, and the aspiration of living life to the fullest? Can't all of us do this all the time? Only you judge what you're willing to contribute part of your life force to. But I suggest you take the progressive route and choose to do something you care about with people you care about (um, and I hope you're not putting what I said into a suggestive context). Take your lead from the "Beckoning of Lovely" project.

Peace out, I'm a Nerdette who needs her friggin' sleep!!!!! And hope you like the new layout!!!

'Twas a frigid, stormy night; the wind howling through the dark, empty streets. Raindrops could be heard pelting the icy windowpane. Inside the home, Ari could be found arduously...
procrastinating on her English assignment by typing a blog post that seemed to have no point at all, but to lead the reader astray. "A RED HERRING!" she shouted out for all the world to hear, her voice echoing in the empty house, her arms raised in achievement!!!

And that, better than anything you could've ever seen me done in my life, has shown just exactly how nerdy I am. But who could blame me? This bizarre post is just a result of my boredom. Well, back to English homework! XD

P.S. All Nerdfighters and other people of relatively high levels of awesome, watch this video here, then go to this page here to join the fun!!!

What the Hell Happened?!...

Well, we ate some yummy food at Mooncakes, saw some psychedelic optical illusions, and had one hell of a time at Anime Fest. Over the last week or two, that's what was up. And so, here's Nerdette Ari's take on it:

A few of my friends and I (including Blinda and our sisters) went to Anime Fest on the 26th, and it was pretty friggin' awesome. Needless to say, it was filled with cute and Japanese-y goodness, most notably all the amazing merchandise--I bought these buttons (they're to die for XD) and a couple adorable cell phone charms. But one of the highlights was definitely all the homemade costumes and cosplays we saw people walking around in (cosplays are when people dress up as their favorite characters!!). And now, here's Ari with coverage on Mooncakes and SonicVision!!!

(I iz such a nerdette, pretending I'm a newscaster) There's this amazing restaurant my mom heard of somewhere on TV, and it's called Mooncake Foods, specializing in "Fun Casual Asian Comfort Food." We went and it blew away my expectations, cuz there were some awesome flavors there I'd never tasted before. And it was good. Then the SonicVison thing was an optical illusion show set to music in a planetarium, which also blew away my expectations by how cool and graphic and slightly nerdy it was. So, if you've been hooked by my subliminal advertising in this last paragraph, click here for Mooncake Foods and here for SonicVision.

I've got nothing left to say,
but I hope you enjoy your day!!!

~Nerdette Ari

P.S. Blinda, feel free to edit this post and add your input!!!

Ello, Poppets!!!!! OMIGOD, iwannagotoanimefest!!!

IWANNAGOTOANIMEFEST, HOLY SCHIST, IREALLYWANNAGOTOANIMEFEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning, this is Nerdette Ari speaking, proclaiming that she really freaking wants to go to the NY Animé Festival. How nerdy is that, right?

I mean, she even promised herself that she's gonna walk around all day with her costume on. IT'S GONNA BE SO FRIGGIN' FUN!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

But that's only if she can actually cough up the money (because like it or not, there WILL be excessive spending) and if she can get her mom to let her go. :'-(

This is bordering on superfluously nerdy already!!!

So we're gonna try to make this work, me and my third-person speaking self. For more information on the NY Animé Festival if you're interested, click here (and no, this isn't subliminal advertising! How could you EVER accuse me of that?!?!?!).

In less ecstatic-sounding news...

School started, yeah, and it's not all that bad--

HOLY #@*&, DID I MENTION The Beatles: Rock Band CAME OUT?!?!?!

We talked about it in Social Studies on 9.9.09 and then the teacher gave us an extremely detailed history of The Beatles(!!!!!!!!!!!) that I'm forever grateful for. It was pretty enlightening.

Sadly, I won't be purchasing said Beatles-themed item because I don't own a game console (T_T), but I'm happy for it all the same. Um... what we're we talkin' about again?

As a nerd, I obviously don't think school's a waste of our time, but it's definitely not what I'd rather be doing 6+ hours of my day, so fellow nerds out there, I suggest this for you:

No matter what class environment you're in, no matter what teacher you have, just be present and be yourself. Don't let the kids or the teacher bring you down, just answer a question or two when you've got something to say. And although that may seem vague, that's all I've got to say.

So dream on, Nerdettes. Sing for the years. Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears. (Yes that was a reference to Aerosmith)

Oh, and if the post seems real long, that's because I pressed the Enter key about a million times. XD

~Nerdette Ari (bids you farewell, speaking in third-person once again)

It's September? Shen me?!?!?!?!?!?!

That's "what" in Chinese. Here are the characters: 什么= shen me="what"

Isn't that so friggin' cooooooooooooooool??? I CAN TYPE IN CHINESE NOW!!!!!!!!! And yeah, while it may be true that really anyone could go to Babelfish and translate into characters, I actually spent 6 weeks of my summer in a classroom absorbing a foreign language!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't I get some sorta credit for that?

So summer was great as usual. I watched more movies than my shriveled-up brain (It dried up from too many hours of computer use) can possibly recall. But before that happened, it was happily stimulated from the Chinese classes, puzzled by the subway system, and blissfully relaxed through unlimited iPod use (Btw, I just got some sick new ska* songs!!!!!!!!).

But the Really Pressing Question here is this:

How was YOUR summer?????????

Hope YOUR summer was as totally beneficial to you as mine was to me. As John Lennon (w00t!) says, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans," and that's sorta what happened to me this summer, cuz I'm pretty sure I changed while I was in the middle of all the classes and going to places and listening to people; I changed as a person (in a good way; I think I know who I am better).

So if you get a chance, leave the answer to THE most pressing question (How was YOUR summer?) in the comments (That means you too, Bwinda!!!). AND NOW, here's the result of me drumming on the keyboard during a song:

rddffkkdfjdklflkfkdflksdflksflsdflkksefsefsfkksdfsdlksdkkdfdksdlklsdlsfkksfkksflklklkklkrlkkdfkklklkerljkklkselksflksdfkkdsflklksflklsdkksdlklksfdklkdfdlklklkrfksdfklklksdfjklksflklkdsdlkksfdlklksdsfdlklksfdlkdlkkrgrieirrfrrirfrrrrfrrgrdfrrdfrdfidiiidrrrrdrfrrrfkkkjjkfgjgrgjeferrarrfrfjrrrfdggdgierererrfrdfgkjrgkkklgkgjjkgjjktgkfgkgtkkkrgerklkkgfggggdfdfjfggxddfjrkjtgtkkdkggggfgffgkkgjjjjjjjfj

Randomocity! I hope I still got it! Also, if anyone wants to usurp The Queen of Randomocity (that's me :P), the challenge is WIDE OPEN. (That's nerd for "BRING IT!!!")

~Nerdette Ari

*Ska is a genre of music that sounds a bit like reggae, featuring upbeat guitar + trumpets. I do love the trumpets!!!

Saturday, August 29, 2009

Usually I post funny/entertaining/conceptual posts, but this one was just me expressing... stuff. Take it in.

Ever get to that point where a song literally makes you lose control? Where that infectious beat matches the pulse of your blood and you HAVE to scream out the words at the best parts??? Or better yet, if there are no words, you just start drumming or air-guitaring out of nowhere regardless of who's watching?

I wasn't really going anywhere with that, but I wanted to see if any readers have felt the music tearing at their soul too. But today I was thinking about what I said in a post a while back about the partial cause of wars, genocide, and racism. I said that it was lack of being considerate about other people, but now I see that wasn't quite it. I'm pretty sure that it's the lack of seeing the life-force inside each person that makes all us humans equal. It's our spirit inside that all humans have in common and it's what we do with this that sets us apart from other people. So being blinded to the spirit in every person combined with a certain mob mentality (you know, maybe a brainwash in Hitler's case or a common goal like recapturing the Holy Land), people will kill/demean/harm other people.

The notable thing is that I see a mob mentality in other situations too, where people think it's okay to do something as long as other people are doing it too. THE recurring example of that is a fashion trend: maybe Ed Hardy right now, a scarf tied around the neck a certain way. When you see your best friend has 200+ friends on Facebook, you'll friend anyone you get a request from, even though you don't know them. And around the lunch table the conversation turns to a common topic like race, or religion and I'm not even saying that's bad cuz it's offensive, but no one seems to think about the other person's thoughts or if they think it's offensive to bring up the topic in the first place. So I think, "It's probably just human nature for this mob mentality thing to happen." And that's why I'm so passionate about starting something, you know, trail blazing. Also going my own way by starting something new. So it's individuality that's hopefully going somewhere, and I don't care if it catches on as a trend or not. Hey!, this leads to today's FATAT:

  • Start/find/recreate something you can dedicate yourself to. It can be a club, a physical project, a band, a Youtube vid, a hobby, or if you're REALLY enthusiastic, a fetish. Something that you're passionate about--make it happen. You can stick to it and add to it over the years, set a goal and take it somewhere. Listen, you might not know where it'll fit in your life 20 years from now, but I'm sure you'll find a place for it. And don't worry: If you're really passionate about it, you won't forget. Who knows where it could take you?

Tonight I decided to go with kind the self-expression blogging where you vent; I hope you don't mind the change of pace. ;)

~(Yours truly,) Nerdette Ari

P.S. I learned some of these concepts by being introduced to (and by that I just mean listening to a recording of) this guy named Eckhart Tolle. Please google him if you're interested.

Our First Encounter

Well, we were at the outlets after Splish Splash the other day, and we had our first encounter with a chinese lady! That spoke chinese with us!! And she was like "do you know where Adias is?" And we were like we have no idea let's get Ariane's mother. But we said it IN CHINESE!! Mwahahaha!!!! I'm so proud of ourselves. And Ariane did her happy dance :P

Um... Untitled?

This is coming to you at 12:59 A.M. on Saturday the 16th of August... Woohoo!!! It's tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So yesterday, being the last day (graduation), had me sort of bummed subconsciously most of the day because I know I'll miss spending time with the AWESOME people from the 6-week Chinese program. I realize it was such a great experience that I just didn't want it to end.

...Of course now I can catch up with the rest of my life, go on the computer for extended periods of time, and get to sleep at a decent hour (like I am right now :P). The story behind that is that I was Nerdfighting and watching Youtube vids all night, and I really wanted to get this post up before bed... AND HERE IT IS!!!

GUESS WHAT WE SAW IN THE CITY TODAY?!?!?!

Blinda and I (plus a couple insignificant relatives of mine :P) were walking down the street and I saw the To
kidoki logo and lo and behold: They had a Tokidoki store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But that was only an Awesome Level Rating of 3! XD When we walked inside, it was so much more amazing than I would've ever guessed; there were
skateboard designs, adorable shoes, such cute tees, and the new designs blew my mind. That's like an Awesome Level Rating of 11. So I've only seen the stuff online before and my mom said, "Life's short. Why don't you get a t-shirt?" and O-M-effing-G, I am showing a pic of the one I got.

If you wanna look at some of this guy's (A.K.A. Simone Legno's) other fabulous stuff, either click on the image or click here. There were 2 things in that store that I liked immensely, and this "Women's Ninja Dog" design is one of the best, I swear. ;) I'll put the other design up for the heck of it.

In other news,
well, there isn't actually much left to say, so just check out the new poll right underneath Ousmane. Thank you, and have a nice day. (I know. WTF was that?!?!)

How about: ROCK ON! IT'S SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMFGWTFFTW?!?!?!

This is nerdy and melodramatic, I know, but THERE HASN'T BEEN A POST IN LIKE 3+ WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!! So yeah, that's the reason for the post title; that Chinese program's been keeping me sooooooo busy that I've had even less of a life than usual. :'-( But it's been the best experience thus far and I can't wait for our graduation!!! *Squee!* I'll give you a sample of what I've learned so far:
我喜欢吃包子! 小鳮,大心。
I like to eat steamed buns! Little chicken, big heart.

It's fun, but I have even less free time than usual to spend with friends, or get on the internet (aside from Gaia Online, my addiction XD). Oh god, 5 weeks of summer just passed me by and I didn't even know any better. @_@ <--Dizzy smiley

I could lecture you or write a book review or some-odd other such seriously nerdy thing, but instead, Ima rap you some nerd freestyle, son.

Ok, ok, I'm just kidding!!! XD But you should've seen the look on your face!!!!!!! ;) What I'm actually gonna do is post one of my comments on a vlogbrothers video.
Yea, 1 up baby. XD It's amazing that the Vlogbrothers 2.0 Project inspired the birth of a new community (Nerdfighters!), the war against WorldSuck, and the writing of the brilliance that is Paper Towns. Btw, was it this video that inspired Radar's Omnictionary editing fetish?

YAY OPTIMISM!!! ^_^

~Nerdette Ari

Click here to see the vid I commented on (opens in a new window)!!! This video is essential to the Nerdfighter community's system of beliefs, so you'll really feel the love once you watch all 400 of their other videos. :P

That's all 4 now folks, I decided to keep it short and sweet this time; well, at least as short as it gets when this blogger nerd decides to get out of bed and onto the computer on Saturday!!! TTFN,

~Nerdette Ari <3 (愛)

P.S. I believe my new punctuation fave is the semi-colon.

P.P.S. I wonder how hard it would be to find a post of mine WITHOUT a "P.S." at the end...

Mommy, What's the A-lollipop-calypse?

A brilliant question, Little Timmy.

A while ago I mentioned something called a FATAT (Fighting Against the Apocalypse Tip [also a funny sounding acronym]). But how, you ask, are these absurd bits of advice on a small-time blog gonna stop the end of the world from coming?!?! (As a side note: The last FATAT was about brushing your teeth in the shower :))

Obviously, the Apocalypse would hypothetically be caused by the gradual accumulation of so much World-Suck (man, I love the italics button), that the human moral standard would spiral downwards to a level where chaos and manslaughter were rampant across the globe, leading to the general DESTRUCTION OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!! That's my half-baked theory anyway, but I hope you get my point as to how lowering World-Suck levels will prevent the Apocalypse from happening (or at least through human causes). And at the end of post, you'll find some bonus Mini Anti-Suck Tips for the purpose of entertainment and the understanding of how YOU can decrease World-Suck Levels/prevent the Apocalypse!!!

Why don't we take a dive head-first into what's happening in MY life in this segment of the post??? ;)
Well, it's summer!!, but I'll be spending most of my weekdays in a classroom attending a 6-week(!) Mandarin Chinese/Chinese Culture program. I'll add this to my list of reasons of Why Ari is a Nerd. But hey, I don't really mind, as long as it's sunny and I don't have to see 9 teachers everyday (except for the occasional coincidental sighting at the supermarket. *Shiver*)

"Summer days driftin' away to oh; oh those summer nights..."

Ok so,

FATAT #2

When decreasing World-Suck Levels, we must take the state of our environment into consideration, right? Here's a way to save money, reduce waste, and bring down big businesses all-in-one!!!:
  • Instead of buying bulk packages of water bottles, install a water filter in your kitchen sink and buy some reusable water bottles. Now you won't have to dispose of all those empty bottles or constantly worry about buying new ones, and getting a water filter in your household is really easy; just look it up on the internet for more info!!! *Note: Using plastic water bottles of #4 plastic or less aren't good for your health (look that up too, if you like), so make sure it's #5 plastic and up. You can also get a metal one, but I think the Swiss made ones are a rip-off. :(
And now for the Mini Anti-Suck Tips:

  1. Part of the reason why the world sucks so much can be traced back to people's manners. I kid you not; I just don't come across honestly considerate people that often, who are amply aware that other individuals are walking right beside them and respond with common courtesy. And so, this Mini Anti-Suck Tip (Trademark pending! :)) advises you to be more considerate to people, whether it be a random stranger or your close friends and family, because a small gesture like holding a door open or saying "Excuse me" could make a difference in a person's day or remind them to be considerate too. And remember: Wars, racism, and genocide are caused partly by people's lack of consideration of others!! :D

  2. WATCH THE VLOGBROTHERS' YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND BE A PART OF THEIR VOLUNTEER PROJECTS/THE NERDFIGHTER COMMUNITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~Nerdette Ari (says ciao 4 now!!!)

P.S. Notice how my posts are getting soooooooooooo long now??? I only get to the computer once in a while and these hybrid, multi-topic super posts are the result!!!

Random Oddity of the Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And today's Random Oddity of the Day is...
  • Pepper spray, when being sold at a guns and ammo store, can be sold for $12.99!!!!!!!!!
I mean, what a rip-off!!!!!!!!!! The tiny, idiot-failure-proof spray bottle only contains 10 one-second sprays (and by "idiot-failure-proof" I mean that the "complex mechanism" prevents you from doing something stupid like accidentally making it go off in your purse or pocket. It will not, however, stop you from spraying yourself in the face, as that would have to be due to the fact that you a) had aimed it at your face, b) had lifted the safety cover, and c) pressed the glaringly large red button while deliberately pointing the nozzle at yourself)!! This means that one can easily spray the whole bottle within 10 seconds at the perv (or "assailant," in more politically correct terms) and pay $13 just for that. 'Nuf said.

Bonus Random Oddity of the Day!!!!!!!!!!!:

  • You sign something saying that you don't have a criminal record in order to buy pepper spray. Plus, you have to show your driver's license.
Yet apparently, you can own a paintball gun and shoot frozen paintballs at people and their cars on Halloween as you please. 'Nuf said.

So yeah, iT's SuMmEr and I'm going to a 6-week program in order to learn the basics of Mandarin Chinese and Chinese culture so that I might bridge the gap between the U.S. and China in my successful future career!! I'm gonna miss you Blinda. Je vais te manquer! I'll also miss tennis with Frank and even Bruce and that lady who made you run all the time. Promise we'll practice a lot in the grueling heat of summer!!!

And now it's time for the part of post where Ari blurts all the going-ons in her brain out into a text-format blurb on the blog:

I have "Pieces of Me" by Ashlee Simpson stuck in my head. Nowadays I get "Don't Stop Believing" stuck in my head cuz it's so super-catchy and it's the anthem of this generation. The other day I got the Hustle stuck in my head; you know, the part that goes

do-do-do-do-do-do-do do-doo, do-do-do-do-do-do-do do-doo, do-do-do-do-do-do-do doo
DO THE HUSTLE!

Gaia online is the best website EVER. I'm reading Inherit the Wind which is an awesome-mazing book. It's well-written and really interesting and is written as a play. It's a great book for intellectuals (i.e. It's a great book for nerds!) because it's got really good lines and makes you question your (and others') moral beliefs. And it's historical fiction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guten nacht,

~Nerdette Ari

Not-so-amazing, But Amazing Anyway!!

It's amazing that the school year ends in 2 days. I mean, I know everyone keeps saying that and the fact that time passes is a given, but now it's like the school year ended so fast. Anyone else astounded that it's June already??? Including you Blinda; I know you're super-super-happy about the freedom of summer. :D

YEAH!!!!!!!! SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy summer, everybody; hope this year was a good one! Hope the next months are full of orange juice, bike riding, aquariums, a 6-week program in Mandarin Chinese, and tons and tons of chlorine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Please comment if you've got any music artist suggestions for this summer. I like any and all good music. ;)

P.P.S. I'm almost done with The Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson and I think it's a really good book. It's really real and there are some really funny lines, but why the hell did Steve have to go and end it with Nina?!?! XD

Nerdism, Part II (With Some Bonus Features!!!)

Sorry this is getting posted about half a month after the first one. XD Contrary to popular belief, I do have somewhat of a life (Got mine off eBay for cheap, boi!!)

I know that the privilege of being a nerd is almost way too much for most of us to handle. But after we finally get over the fact that we're made of awesome (referring to us nerdfighters, of course), how many of us have decided what to do with our awesome??? Boy, do I have the solution for you! It's...

SHAMWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jk. XD

There's this fabulous concept forming in the minds of certain nerds and nerd-assisters and that is:

The SAPAFR Nerd Revolution!!! (The acronym will be elaborated on at a later date)

All you need to know about the SAPAFR Nerd Revolution is that, in the near future, nerds around the globe will combine their efforts in the creation of a massive wave of nerd technology and culture that will make all objects on Earth that do not support nerdism obsolete.

Translation: We're gonna invent some microscopic bombs (with built-in artifical intelligence, of course) that will fly into the ears of stupid people (ex: George W. Bush ;)) and implode in their minds, eliminating all unwanted threats to humans and nerds alike. Of course, we will scientifically determine which people around the world are stupid enough to destroy, plus, this method is so ingenius, no one will be able to figure out (let alone prevent) their cause of death!!!

Honestly, if civil rights and youth have their own movement, I think nerds should [legally] be entitled to one too. XD

Much thanks to Vicky for co-devising this brilliant plan!!!!!!!!B!!!!!Meyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!is!!!!the!!!!!!!!!!!!sun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!pimp!!!!!!!

C'mon nerdfighteria, tell us what you think (This includes you, Blinda, as you contribute nothing else to this blog because the other aspects of your life are Oh Soooo Important)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

~Nerdette Ari (now has the song "eBay" by Weird Al stuck in her head)
P.S. Yes, I know I capitalize and de-capitalize (Is that a word?) the word directly following my parentheses inconsistently, but this is the sorta stuff they just don't teach you in English. :(

Nerdism, Part I (Heh, heh) ^_^

Howdy, nerdettes!!!
(By the way, even if you're a guy and you read our blog [i.e. If you're reading this sentence right now] you're considered a nerdette. Embrace it)

Um, yeah, I'm sorta bored and I also want to tell the world why the nerd is such a powerful symbol of awesome and what being a nerd means to me (Aw, so heartfelt!!). But really, there's a reason nerds across the globe suffer the injustice of bearing incredible mental capacity, yet are hardly ever recognized for their brilliant talents.

But the good thing is, nerdism (The physical state or philosophy of being a nerd) is almost completely socially accepted in today's culture. I mean, everywhere I go I hear in conversations, "Yeah, I know, I'm such a nerd!" (AND NO, I'M NOT EAVESDROPPING!!). :P And of course, John & Hank Green (or Hank & John, if you prefer) have enormously helped along this change of place in society for nerds (Now we're higher up on the totem pole; thanks guys!!!). But what really makes nerds so awesome and way better than any other high school stereotype out there???

My answer to this pressing question is that nerds have used their awesome brain power for good, in classroom situations and in social situations, and have made others realize that us nerds are a powerful force to be reckoned with. For example, Manga and Animé (Japanese comics and animation) Nerds are no longer just the quiet little nerds reading their stupid, childish foreign comics and drawing people with weird eyes. We are skilled and talented manga/animé artists that caught on to today's trends way before anyone else and know way more about than Pokémon than you, so there.

My efforts in supporting nerdfighteria at its awesomest include:
  • Wearing creative outfits that mix and match styles, never conforming to the social clothing norm, that show I don't have to have a brand name on my shirt to wear great outfits AND be a nerd at the same time (This also rids nerds of the "You guys have no sense of style" stereotype. Try it out sometime)
  • Joining chess clubs, going to Comic Cons and Animéfests, and reading nerdy books without giving a d@#* about what haters will think
  • Conducting myself with confidence in social situations--not mumbling, having my own opinions, demonstrating good communication skills--which shows that nerds know what they're talking about (This one sounds really nerdy, doesn't it Blinda? ^_^)
  • Drinking an awesome-shake every morning (Some people drink protein shakes, I get my daily serving of awesome. It's what nerds do)
And you too can do these and more to support something that is bigger than all of us. This something will have a huge impact on life as we know it, nerds and non-nerds alike. This momentous concept will be... discussed in the next post, so sit tight until then and DFTBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD ^_^ :D

Life's Unexpected Suprises

Well, wasn't the title of this post redundant.

Yesterday, Ari was innocently going through the day's routine when an incident occured that changed the course of her day forever (if the sentence made sense, it wouldn't be coming from me, would it?). On the afternoon in question, she had felt the back of her ear, noticing there was a scab-like flap on the back of it. She walked to the bathroom mirror to further investigate... and saw a bug attached to the back of her ear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her reaction was nothing short of, "Holy Schist?!?!" (schist is a metamorphic rock, FYI) and she proceeded to immediately grab some toilet paper and yank the small, roundish, flatish, scarab-shaped bug off her ear. This was but one of the highlights of her day. Ari discussed this freak incident with Blinda, who was equally astounded (I mean, stuff like that just doesn't happen often, am I right?). As the perfect excuse for all stalkers, Blinda sez, "Well, someone's gotta write your obituary." Yes, this comment was completely irrelevant; our conversation went out on a tangent, you know how it is.

HEY BWINDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saw your post; it's made of awesome. I should've predicted that you'd wanna bike ride EVERY WEEK during the summer and that you'd somehow drag me into your little scheme. While I encourage your enthusiasm towards physical effort (shocker!), I'm not sure my short supply of stamina can handle it. :( Plus I'm going to that 6-week learning Mandarin course, remember? I'm sure we'll make it work somehow, as soon as we get your gears fixed, that is. XD And I, uh, *cough* wuv u 2, Bwinda. ^_^

Bike Riding to the Beach!! (Ariane ditched us)

Bonjour, C'est moi! For once... So, we went bike riding to the beach last Sunday and I was SOOOO happy! Ariane only came with us about 1/4 of the way there, and then ditched us to do spend more time with her homework. We took the bike path through the park to the beach and the scenery is sweetness! The ocean was really cold though. My toes were about to freeze off. Teehee. I want to ride there every week during the summer :)

Of course I know certain people will refuse will join me EVERY week, so I probably won't get to go every week because I'm afraid to go by myself :(

Righ now, I'm going to start counting down the days until school is over. Then I will be FREE!!!!!!!!!!!! Teehee

~Belinda ♥

Are you happy NOW, Arine?? I finally posted a REAL post? teehee i still love you...

Save the Day, the Nerdette Way!!! XD

A revelation struck me yesterday, and I will now share with you the most brilliant piece(s) of advice you shall ever encounter. EVER.

Here's what's going down ^_^:

The world needs a bit of helpful reform from every single nerdette out there (population 2, as far as I know) and I'm going to post a bunch of Nerdette-inspired Fighting Against the Apocalypse Tips (FATAT) in succession on the blog. Starting with this one here:

FATAT (heh, heh) Numero UNO

Brush your teeth while taking a shower. It saves time when getting ready in the morning and saves water. Yes, I'm telling you to legitimately take the toothbrush and toothpaste with you into the shower and brush while you wait for your conditioner to set or something. I tried it yesterday, in fact. Please comment on this tip, whether you think it's the most retarded thing you've ever heard or if you think it's a stroke of pure genius.

In other fabulous news...

I've come up with a list of words (in the "English language") that are so inaccurrately used, I cry myself to sleep at night putting up with this injustice. Below is a mini-dictionary of Ze Awesome Nerdette definitions for the following words:

Creeper (noun). The life of the party. (i.e. The most unusual and slightly disturbing person you know that makes your every social gathering that much more "interesting.")

Nerdette (noun). A blatant academic overachiever exerting awesomeness in everything they do and say. Female in question exhibits nerdy behaviors such as the ability to bother you with a bunch of pointless facts or come up with the best funny nerd insults. For a synonym for this word used in a more general sense, see John and Hank Green's nerdfighter(s)

Legit (adj). A cliche, misused abbreviation for legitimate. You can just use the word seriously instead, honestly. (e.g. O rly? Yeah, like, legit!! OR O rly? Yeah, srsly!!) Seriously is just seriously a cooler sounding response and this cliche will have me using legitimately instead of legit for the rest of my life, seriously.

Fail (interjection). A term expresseing that one has just made a complete idiot of themselves in attempting to be as awesome as nerfighters and/or nerdettes. The word is often used discouragingly and that's probably why my school has recently put up motivational quotes all over the walls, 3 of them containing some form of the word fail. (e.g. Our Greatest Glory is Not in Never Failing, But In Picking Ourselves Up Afterward... or something like that [That's my theory, anyway])

As a final comment, I do hereby declare this post one of the longest I've ever written (yeah, I spent 3 days in my computer class typing this [further evidence of my nerd-ocity and non-exsistent life])!!!

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I saw someone wearing a fedora 3 days in a row and I'm wondering if the fedora fad Blinda and I started ^_^ is finally catching on... cuz everyone knows that the fedora hat is the hottest item in today's Nerd Fashion. Available for girls or guys (the person wearing the fedora was actually a guy... hmmm). More nerd and non-nerd related posts to come!!!!!!!!!!!

Nerdette Ari's Current Nerdy OBSESSIONS

Here's an update on the latest in nerdy obsessions--in list form!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Vlogbrothers Youtube Channel
These hilarious and multi-talented brothers founded the Nerdfighters and the pwnage of the "In Your Pants" book title suffix joke while communicating long distance through uploading videos!!! Click
here for the link to the channel!

  • Chess
A game of supreme logic and mental skill, chess is infamous for being the signature game for nerds. My favorite part is the pretty black and white squares. :D There's no greater pleasure than pwning all of you puny-minded friends in chess, so start building your sick chess skillz now, fellow nerds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Available as computer chess or the actual chess board and pieces*

  • Nerdy Music
Surprisingly, there are tons of songs out there geared towards the nerd/nerdette community, and here are some of my recommendations: They Might Be Giants is a band with informative lyrics and fantastic melodies including my faves--"Doctor Worm," "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)," and "Why Does the Sun Shine?" The song "The Geek in the Pink" by Jason Mraz is irresistibly catchy with a chic nerdy vibe in there. "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al is a well-known witty parody about the plight of white nerds (not intended to offend). Look these all up on Youtube, homeskillets!!!

Attempt to Slay Boredom #1: Yo Mama Jokes!!!

Well, hello.

Guten tag.

Bongiorno.

Bonjour.

Hola.

Konichiwa.

I know you just got bored-er after reading this, but now I'll get to the point. In this post, I will list an assortment of the best Yo Mama jokes I've heard over the span of my obviously pointless life. These are purely for entertainment's sake and are not intended to offend anyone in any way (except for Amanda, of course). XD Let it begin:

  • Yo mama is so fat, when she went to the aquarium the whales started singing, "We are family!"
  • Yo mama is so stupid, she got hit by a parked car.
  • Yo mama is so fat, when she sat on a rainbow, Skittles popped out.
  • Yo mama is so ugly, she tried to enter an ugly contest but the staff said, "Sorry, no professionals!"
  • Yo mama is so stupid, she sold her car for gas money.

Heh, heh. Hope you enjoyed. :D In other news, Llama is apparently the new leader of the free world, as decided by you people. Great job, guys. Btw, Amanda: I was just kidding about offending you with those yo mama jokes (I would never disrespect your mother) but I just HAD to pwn you after that email you sent me. Yeah, the one that blinded me with its glaringly obnoxious text. ;) That was one sick email, I do have to say. Kk everybody, don't forget to attack Blinda on the street for NEVER POSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Amanda! :P

Here's one more pwnage before I sign off:
(To the Tune of Frere Jacques)

I like pudding

I like pudding

Yes I do

Yes I do

Amanda is a zombie

Amanda is a yeti

That smells like poo

That smells. P.U.!!!!!!!

Haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beat that childish pwnage resembling that of a 6-year-old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Voila! The Result of my Boredom:

(To the Tune of the chorus of "Love Story" by Taylor Swift) *gag*

Blinda, you're psycho.
You know I can't leave you alone
with a knife; you can't use your cellular phone.
Closed padded walls, and you'll wear a white vest.
You're gonna be sedated; Crazy, just say "yes."

You may, of course, substitute anyone's name into the first part of the song (works best with 2 syllables). I heard this song 3 times yesterday and Issy and I were singing all the lyrics EVERY SINGLE TIME. So you can imagine how badly it got stuck in my head today. I had to slaughter the song somehow, and this is the answer to my prayers. ^_^ Enjoy!!! Btw, Issy told me that I got "scorned" yesterday, so if you ever feel like dissing someone really dorkily, tell them, "You just got scorn'd!!!!!" Don't forget to tell me how that works out! XD

Welcome to this Week's Nerdtastic Book Discussion. I'm Your Host, Nerdette Jong-Jong. XD

So Blinda told me about this book last year I think, and I was in the middle of shirking my responsibilities when I saw the same book on Amazon.com's list of best teen books of 2008. The book is Paper Towns by John Green. Long story short, it's a book of FABULOCITY and I've read more than Blinda. Haha! :P Go here to check out mooooooooore!!! That's all I can say right now, folks... bell's gonna ring! TTFN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMF-ingG! Post Update:
Finished the book last night and the ending is the best &#$% thing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course, it's imperative that you read the preceeding content first, but the way it ends with the events and the language and the interwoven themes...! Schist, Bwinda--if you don't finish reading it, you're dead to me. ;) And yes, I'll give you the book back.

Oh, je ne sais pas...

So I THOUGHT I had a new favorite band, but it's a five/six way tie between...
Oasis, Coldplay, The Beatles, The Verve, and U2...

I should make a poll! But I can't choose, so I guess all of them are my favorite. Ariane's not helping with the process (tisk, tisk... not returning my texts!) But she does go to sleep unusually early.

I will have a new playlist soon! I found tons of coolio songs while being bored and procrastinating on the "important" stuff.
I can't wait until summer vacation! That will give me tons of time to make more posts and playlists and get in tounch with my inner self!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But now I have to get like ALL the albums from all of the bands so I can listen to them during my free time!!!! :)

Mais, I still have SCHOOL, and it sucks miserably. I'm slacking off more than usual on my homework and labs and stuff, et je ne sais pas qourquoi!! :'(
I'll survive... ♥

Hey, So Guess What?!

Nothing. I have nothing to say. This happens to me a lot; I ask someone at lunch, "Guess what?" and when they say "what?" I reply, "Actually, I got nothing." It's rather misleading, is it not?

OMG, so we saw the movie "Push," right, and there was this scream-y guy who was doing something pretty freaky with his eyes and then the lollipop chick got owned by the tiger she prophesied would kill the other girl (I always forget her name). But the best part was when the Nick dude injected himself with soy sauce. Yum.

Also, there's this AWESOME website (it's a MMORPG 'cuz I'm a nerd like that) and the avatar design is amazing (it's the best part) but you also get to shoot monsters which a laser gun and play with your friends. You can find it here at fusionfall.com. Try it out, but it does shut down my browser occasionally (Firefox) and it might not let your computer run at it's best, so be warned. Otherwise, it's super fun!!! XD

Hey, So Guess What?! I contradicted what I said earlier in this post because I actually did have something to say and, in fact, now this post is quite long. Yeah, that's just how I rizz-oll. Your will never see me type that again. Ever.

Random List of Irritating Irritations

Many people (such as myself) go through the day thinking, "Man, that irritates me," at various points throughout the day. Of course, it may sometimes be expressed in other ways (expletives!), but I'd like to share with you a list of some everyday (and some not-so-everyday) irritations that piss me off:

  • When some idiot spills clothes-staining ink on you and everyone but him notices :P
  • When suddenly everyone is into this thing that you've loved way before it ever got popular
  • When you get shoved around in the halls and don't get so much as an "I'm sorry."
  • When the waiter/waitress at a restaurant gets your order wrong and you flip out and hold a grudge for three months like Blinda
  • When everything that can go wrong does, and more. And other people are doing just fine at the same thing you're attempting to do
  • When you randomly bump a body part really hard into an unexpected object (it's not funny at first, but it's hilarious later!)
  • When the potato imps steal/drink your orange juice
  • When an inanimate object is causing you some form of distress (e.g. the computer freezes when you're in the middle of typing a report)
  • When people are so obviously posers
  • When nothing is on tv
  • When it's like the whole universe won't let you get this one thing that you really want (or when it seems like the whole universe is against you)
  • And last, but certainly not least: When you're forced to see a really bad movie
Well, I hope you enjoyed this very valid, very useless list and I hope it will help you get through your daily irritations (Note: This list is not a remedy for itching or chafing. You probably need some ointment for that). I'll c u on the flip side!

In other completely irrelevant news meant to draw your attention away from the fact that I'm so weird, I went to tokidoki.it about 4 months after I first saw the cute, colorful, and quirky characters at the FAO Schwarz in NYC. Tokidoki is a sort of brand featuring Japanese-style graphics that are really vibrant and fun to look at. They were created by Italian artist Simone Legno. This here picture should say it all:
And in further news about cute stuff, did anyone notice that the neko disappeared??? • I have a partition of T-Square bodyguards readily available to defend me. What now?
